The skin on and around the knees and elbows is unique. Because it bends and contracts, it's more likely to be dehydrated and wrinkly. And who wants to have a wrinkled, older looking knees and elbows?
Here are some measures you can take to help the skin in these exposed and overused areas of our bodies look their best, most moisturized and youthful looking.
1. Exfoliate. Most women take excellent care of their skin, exfoliating their faces and necks, but many forget to exfoliate their knees and elbows. Proper exfoliation (and you can get a little aggressive with these areas) helps clear away dead skin cells and dullness, allowing any moisturizer to optimally absorb in the skin. Scrub your knees and elbows briskly with a loofah or salt scrub in the shower. Every time.
2. Moisturize. And moisturize heavily. As soon as you get out of the shower, apply a rich moisturizer like shea butter, coconut or organ oil, or even petroleum jelly to your knees and elbows. Do this daily or twice a day for best results.
3. Exercise! How can exercise make your knees and elbows look better? Simple, by improving the muscle tone around them, giving them a more lifted, youthful appearance. Exercises like knee extensions, yoga, and pilates strengthen the quadriceps above the knees and the triceps above the elbows, "lifting" the skin and making its appearance more taut.
Taking these three steps can improve the look of the wrinkly skin around the knees and elbows. And with summertime just around the corner, sexy legs and arms will be on full display.
